The Spokane Chiefs held on for their second straight win over the Seattle Thunderbirds as Liam Stewart's unassisted goal at 6:12 of the third period proved to be the game winner in a 4-3 Spokane victory Tuesday night in Kent, WA. With the win, Spokane now leads Tri City by 6 points for 4th place in the Western Conference.

Captain Brenden Kichton started the scoring for Spokane with a power play goal just 19 seconds into the game from Reid Gow and Todd Fiddler to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. Shea Theodore scored for Seattle with just 5.6 seconds left in the first to even the game at one after 20 minutes. The Thunderbirds Mitch Elliott scored just 3:26 into the second period to give Seattle the lead at 2-1. Spokane's Collin Valcourt scored an unassisted shorthanded goal on Seattle's power play at 7:22 to bring the Chiefs back even at 2-2. Seattle's Branden Troock scored at 17:20 to put the T-Birds back on top at 3-2, but Spokane's Mike Aviani countered with his 20th of the year from Fiddler at 19:07 to make it a 3-3 game after two.

Stewart picked off a Seattle pass in front of the Thunderbirds net and rifled home his 9th goal of the year early in the third for the game winner. Chiefs goalie Eric Williams turned aside 10 Seattle shots in the third, including several with Seattle on the power play in the final 2 minutes and the net empty to preserve his 20th win of the season. Spokane outshot Seattle 37-30 in the contest.

The two teams will meet for the third straight game Wednesday night at 7:05 pm at the Spokane Arena.
