Lisa Davis
OTHELLO, Wash. -

A one-time teacher of the month from Othello has now been charged with first-degree child molestation by Adams County prosecutors.

Lisa Davis, who was a fifth grade teacher at Scootney Springs Elementary School in the Othello School District, will make her first court appearance on the charge on July 29.

Othello police recommended the charge to prosecutors after being alerted by school officials on May 30 that there had been unprofessional behavior on Davis' part with a 10-year-old boy.

Othello Police Chief Alvia Dunnagan confirmed the case involved one victim and the incidents happened both on and off the school campus.

Davis, 48, was placed on administrative leave on May 30, the day the district reported the case to police, and she resigned on June 18.

Davis was a highly regarded teacher in the Othello School District and was once featured as a teacher-of-the-month just last year by another local media outlet. At the time administrators praised her for her work with her students.
