Spokane Police are looking for a vehicle they suspect may have been involved in a possible abduction attempt over the weekend. Police released a picture of the suspected vehicle Monday afternoon, captured by surveillance cameras in the area.
Police say they received a report Saturday that a man approached two 10-year old girls in the 2100 block of East Diamond. The girls told police the man was idling in his vehicle, a dark green SUV, and motioned for them to come over.
According to police the girls walked away then ran and even climbed a tree to escape. They told police a man got out of the vehicle, grabbed one of the girls and carried her 200 feet to his vehicle. The other girl followed the suspect and yelled for help.
"As the suspect moved to get in the driver’s seat, the girl was able to open the vehicle’s passenger door and get out of the vehicle and the two girls ran to safety," police said in a press release issued over the weekend.
Police interviewed the girls and obtained surveillance video from the area. Police say the suspect is a tan or Hispanic male in his late 30's to early 40's. Officers returned to the area Monday to interview possible witnesses and see if there is additional surveillance video.
