Sixth Spokane Pharmacy robbed
Another pharmacy robbery in Spokane Sunday evening and as time goes by the hold-ups appear to be contagious.
For the sixth time in a little more than a week, someone has walked into a grocery store, gone straight to the pharmacy counter and stolen painkillers.
Sunday's robbery happened at the Shopko on the Newport Highway around 6:30 p.m.
Spokane Police say a man demanded narcotics and did it without using a note or a gun.
A police K-9 was called to the store but was not able to track the suspect.
Police say despite the number of hold-ups, crime analysts look for similarities and sooner than later their detectives are going to figure out who is responsible.
"This robbery wasn't an armed robbery, the person went in, demanded pills but there was no weapon or indication of a weapon," Lieutenant Justin Lundgren said. "Obviously any robbery, pharmacy or otherwise, we take very seriously and we'll get to the bottom of it as soon as possible."
Tonight's suspect is described as a lone white male in his thirties, five feet five inches tall with dark hair and wearing a black jacket with a hood and black pants.
Police are still looking for a woman they think is responsible for three of the recent pharmacy heists.
Information on either suspect should be called into Crime Stoppers at 509-222-TIPS.
