A car full of wanted criminals led police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning on Highway 291.
The chase began just before 2 a.m. in North Spokane when officers spotted a stolen car. Officers attempted to stop the blue Forester station wagon. They believed it was being driven by a known felon.
The driver took off and led police on a chase up Highway 291 at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour. The driver blew through several traffic lights, so police used spike strips to slow them down.
"As we passed Joe Albi Stadium, an officer was able to get spike strips out and actually had a considerable effect on slowing the vehicle, which was a concern for us for a while," said Lieutenant Dean Sprague.
Officers eventually used a PIT maneuver to stop the car, and it rolled over. The known felon they believed was driving the car was actually a passenger.
All four people in the car had criminal warrants and all of them suffered minor injuries. They will all be taken to jail as soon as they're cleared by the hospital.
