SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police detectives are seeking the public's help in getting more information on a sleeping bag found near where the body of Kala Williams was found in southwest Spokane.

Williams was last seen alive in late March 2012 by her boyfriend, who she had been fighting with prior to her disappearance. She was reported missing by her brother on April 2. Her dismembered body was found in garbage bags in a wooded area of Sunset Hill a month later in May.

Investigators believe Williams was murdered somewhere else, dismembered and then put into the bags by the killer, so he could dump the remains without being detected.

Williams' family doesn't think she was kidnapped and killed by a stranger because of her street smarts.

Detectives are looking for help from the community to identify a distinctive looking sleeping bag found near her body. The sleeping bag is bright orange with a plaid orange interior.

If anyone recognizes the sleeping bag you're asked to call Spokane Police Detective Mark Burbridge at (509) 625-4262.
