Teen shot outside FDA Seattle regional office

Published On: Feb 08 2013 01:41:37 PM CST
BOTHELL, Wash. -

Police say a security guard shot a 15-year-old boy Friday morning in the parking lot of the Food and Drug Administration Seattle regional office in Bothell.

Sgt. Cedric Collins says Bothell police received a call about 7 a.m. saying the guard had contacted a suspicious person in the parking lot. Another call a few minutes later said shots had been fired.

Collins says the teen was hit and while driving away he collided with another vehicle on the Bothell-Everett Highway. He was taken to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are questioning the guard and investigating what the teen was doing in the suburban business park.

The FDA's Pacific Regional Lab Northwest analyzes food and drug products for compliance with regulations.
