SPOKANE, Wash. -

Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas at the Santa Express store in downtown Spokane this holiday season.

At the Santa Express store, kids can shop for people on their list there and provide funding for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.

The store has aisles and aisles of goodies for your kids to do their Christmas shopping; they'll also learn how to budget, how to think of others as they pick out gifts and even give money to the nursery.

The nursery has been in Spokane for 25 years and provides emergency care for kids -- from birth to six-years-old -- for parents who need help.

This store has been providing thousands of dollars for the nursery every year; last year it brought in $65,000, which is huge for this nursery, which is 100-percent community funded.

If you bring your kids in here to do their Christmas shopping, it's going to be an experience they'll never forget.

"They get matched with a volunteer, they come behind this little curtain and they get the chance to shop throughout this floor, items for maybe their mom and dad, their grandparents, their aunt and uncle, teachers their friends, siblings … it's just really fun to see them look at the item, try to think about who they're shopping for, what that person might like, then they wrap it up, take it with them, then on Christmas morning it's a surprise to whoever the gift is for," Executive Director Amy Knapton said.

Adults can shop here, too, out front in Vanessa's Village there are handmade gifts and decorations that are also very affordable.

The shop, located at 707 West Main Avenue on the second floor, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Dec. 23.
