Man admits killing girlfriend, dies in shootout
An Idaho man who confessed to killing his girlfriend and then pulled a gun on detectives died several hours later in a shootout with a SWAT team.
Bannock County officials say Boede Paul called the sheriff's office Wednesday morning asking to meet with detectives about the Jan. 6 disappearance of 23-year-old Angela Schultz of Pocatello.
Detectives met with Paul at his residence in southeastern Idaho, where he told officers that he killed Schultz and wanted to show them where he buried her.
He pulled a gun and detectives called for backup. Paul sat in his pickup as officers tried for hours to get him to surrender. At about 7 p.m., Paul got out of his pickup and started shooting. Officers returned fire.
Authorities planned to begin searching for Schultz's body Thursday.
