Idaho voters to decide on hunt, fish and trap measure

BOISE, Idaho -

A constitutional amendment to protect the right to hunt, fish and trap in Idaho is getting wide support from voters.

With just 29 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, support for HJR2 is at 74.3 percent.

If the amendment is approved, Idaho would join 13 other states that have similar language in their constitutions.

Supporters of the measure say protecting the right to hunt, fish and trap is critical to ensuring future generations can take part in those popular outdoor activities.

During the 2012 Legislature, lawmakers from both parties approved putting the question to voters. The amendment also has the backing of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission.
