At 11 a.m. Friday, four Spokane Police officers began the process of clearing out the tent cities dotted along the I-90 underpasses in Downtown Spokane.
On Thursday, police handed out and posted notices to vacate the tent city locations within 24 hours. Tickets would be handed out to those who did not comply to the tune of $75 dollars.
The process started slow Friday as police started at the west end of I-90. Geiger Corrections and City cleanup crews were in tow to clean up anything left behind at the camps including blankets, tires, tents, clothes and food.
Slowly, the tent city occupants folded up their belongings and left the camps, though many are expected to return in the evening. No tickets were handed out.
