First Spokane same-sex couples marry
SPOKANE, Wash. -

Gay and lesbian couples who received their marriage licenses this week wasted no time getting married.

Matthew Dill and Christopher Rogers were the second couple in Spokane County to get their marriage license on Thursday.

After waiting the required three days by state law to get married, the couple exchanged vows on Sunday afternoon overlooking the Spokane skyline.

"We've been waiting for this moment for so long," the couple said.

On Sunday, they tied the knot in a short, intimate ceremony with close friends by their side.

"We just wanted something quick, to say some words and have a little tiny wedding," Christopher Dill-Rogers said.

The couple have been together for two years and in a domestic partnership for the last year.

"We are still in the beginning stages of our relationship. We still have a lot to go through. It's nice to know that we are equal to everyone else," Matthew Dill-Rogers said.

Mr. and Mr. Dill-Rogers know they are apart of history, becoming one of the first gay couples in Spokane to say "I do."

"We got to be a part of something really big, we are very proud that we got to be there. It's nice to feel equal and that everyone else can have that option too," they said.
