4 cell tower workers stranded on Oregon mountain

BURNS, Ore. -

Harney County rescuers are waiting for a break in the weather to make another attempt to reach four cellphone tower construction workers stranded since Saturday when their snow vehicle got stuck in a drift on Steens Mountain in southeast Oregon.

Their employer, James Kramer of Legacy Wireless Services, says the workers are in the heated concrete structure at the tower where they've been working. He says they're in good spirits and warm, and they have electricity, cellphones, chargers, food and water.

Search and rescue coordinator Matt Fine told KOIN that rescuers were forced to turn back Sunday afternoon by white-out conditions in the rough terrain. The workers are reported at about 9,000 feet.

Kramer says search and rescue workers plan another attempt Monday afternoon.
