Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was found guilty on April 15 of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition in the 2013 shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. He also faces two first-degree murder charges stemming from a double homicide in Boston in 2012. Here are other celebrities who were involved in murder trials:
Marion "Suge" Knight. The former rap mogul pleaded not guilty on Feb. 3 to murder and attempted murder after being accused of hitting two men with his pickup truck.
Phil Rudd. The drummer for legendary hard rock band AC/DC has been charged with attempting to have two men killed. The 60-year-old appeared in a New Zealand court Thursday afternoon facing a count of attempting to procure the murder of two men. Michael Jace. The "Shield" actor is charged with one count of murder with a gun in the shooting death of his wife in May 2014. April Jace was found shot to death in her south Los Angeles home by police called there to investigate a shooting. Jace has pleaded not guilty.
O.J. Simpson. Simpson was charged in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. While Simpson was acquitted of those charges, he landed in prison in 2008 after being convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping.
Phil Spector. The legendary record producer has backed numerous music legends such as the Beatles, the Ramones and Ike and Tina Turner, but he was found guilty in 2009 of killing actress Lana Clarkson and was sentenced to 19 years to life.
Matthew Broderick. In 1987 while driving in Ireland, Matthew Broderick veered out of his lane and crashed head first into an oncoming car, killing both its driver and passenger. Broderick was charged with “careless driving” and fined $175.
Courtney Love. Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of the band Nirvana, was found dead at his Seattle home in 1994. Despite the official ruling of suicide, Courtney Love has faced years of speculation that she had something to do with his death.
Don King. The boxing promoter was charged with two different killings 13 years apart. He shot Hillary Brown in the back, but it was found to be a justifiable homicide since Brown was attempting to rob him. King was convicted of second-degree murder after he stomped Sam Garrett to death, an employee who owed him $600. He served just under four years in prison.
Brandy. In 2006, Brandy was involved in a car accident in which the driver of the vehicle she hit died. Although her career took a big hit due to the media attention, authorities’ investigations found that she was innocent of a crime and no criminal charges were brought.
Robert Blake. In 2005, Blake was tried and acquitted of charges of murdering his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley, but later that year, he was found liable in a California civil court for her wrongful death.
Ray Lewis. In 2000, the Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl linebacker and two friends were charged with murder and aggravated assault after a post Super Bowl party fight left two men dead. Lewis pled guilty to one count of obstruction of justice and received one year of probation and a $250,000 fine by the NFL.
Snoop Dogg. The rapper was arrested and charged in connection with the 1993 death of Philip Woldemariam, a member of a rival gang who was shot and killed by Snoop’s bodyguard. Snoop was acquitted along with his bodyguard of first- and second-degree murder charges.
Jayson Williams. The former NBA player was arrested and eventually pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in connection with the murder of Costas “Gus” Christofi, his limo driver. Williams claimed the shooting was an accident and he served 18 months in jail.
Oscar Pistorius. A judge found Pistorius guilty of culpable homicide, the South African term for unintentionally -- but unlawfully -- killing a person. It's akin to negligent killing. Judge Thokozile Masipa previously cleared Pistorius of murder in the killing of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
